A night of analogue photography.
Last Friday, I had an unforgettable evening in Stuttgart with my best friend, Benny. Armed with my 1957 Leica M3, Benny dabbled in analogue photography, capturing moments on Ilford HP5+. Meanwhile, I explored the city with my trusty Leica M10 and occasionally used my Leica M6 with the luxurious Cinestill 800T film.
Benny is new to the world of analogue photography, but his enthusiasm and ambition are palpable. He not only enjoys taking pictures but also aspires to learn film development, planning to set up a small darkroom in his basement.
Photographing alongside someone so passionate is truly uplifting, even though street photography isn't my primary focus anymore. Nevertheless, we managed to create some beautiful shots, even when I didn't put much effort into it. I simply savored the moment, allowing the vibrant streets of Stuttgart and its people to influence my work.
While I find myself mentally drifting away from traditional analogue film photography, I had an immense amount of fun that evening. Revisiting this familiar genre was like a dream, and I relished the time spent with my best friend, Benny.
The night reminded me of the joys of photography beyond technicalities. It's about capturing life, sharing experiences, and nurturing a deep bond with the art form. Despite my evolving interests, this unforgettable evening reignited my appreciation for analogue photography and the profound connections it can create between friends.
